English Premier League Matchweek 5: Predictions, Betting tips & Analysis

Another 60% success rate for three consecutive weeks and we can only hope for more, losses for Chelsea, Manchester United, Stoke City and Liverpool shocked our thoughts last weekend. Several tricky ties this round but we have to do our jobs, our experts have decided, this is their judgement!

Saturday

Everton vs Chelsea
Goodison Park
12:45pm

The first of the tricky ties, Everton hosts the champions. Few poor results don’t define a team, take nothing away from Chelsea they are still the team to beat, these bunch will get over the tiredness and hangover around them and fire again, but for now they have to contain Ross Barkley and Co. Everton have surged up, belief is quite high, the champions won’t find it easy.
Verdict: Draw
Arsenal vs Stoke City
Emirates Stadium
3:00pm

Stoke are depleted, injuries and suspensions, and they never really find it easy away at Arsenal, 3:0 reverse the last time and it doesn’t look like changing. Arsenal must prove they’re far from a spent force from this fixture, fans have to see that thing that only Wenger sees, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott can’t afford another blank outing. The time is now.
Verdict: Arsenal to win
Crystal Palace vs Manchester City
Selhurst Park
3:00pm

This ordinarily shouldn’t be a difficult one for the league leaders but Chelsea know better, the Eagles have reinforced impressively and it’s paying off, Manchester City have the most expensive signings in the league and Kevin DeBryne hasn’t even kicked a ball yet, this one will be very entertaining.
Verdict: Manchester City to win
Norwich vs Bournemouth
Carrow Road
3:00pm

This is a six pointer, wins in games like this go a long way in strengthening survival hopes come May 2016, both teams have impressed over time, Bournemouth beat Westham away from home, Norwich have picked points on the road too, it wasn’t easy between them in the championship last season and it won’t be this time.
Verdict: Bournemouth will pick a point at least
Watford vs Swansea
Vicarage Road
3:00pm

Gary Monk must be in cloud 9 right now, he’s free transfer lads are gifting him points, again and again he’s beaten Manchester United and now he’s a victim of his own high standards. Watford weren’t expected to beat the league leaders last weekend but they gave a good fight, how much of a fight can they put up against the giant killers with player of the month Ayew upfront?
Verdict: Watford to pick a point at least
Westbrom vs Southampton
Hawthorns
3:00pm

Another tricky tie, Southampton ran out 3:0 winners against ten man Norwich last weekend while the baggies were successful too with their negotiations at the Britannia, nobody visits stoke and expect an easy run though two early marching orders aided the visitors, Southampton are not yet convincing, they seem to have lost the fear factor.
Verdict: Westbrom will pick a point at least
Manchester United vs Liverpool
Old Trafford
5:30pm

Unarguably the fixture of the weekend, two teams bearing ma$$ive weight of expectations. Liverpool were mauled last time they visited Old Trafford with Steven Gerrard sent off few seconds after being introduced, the two are healing after home losses, it’s a good statement for either side with a win, Wayne Rooney is buzzing after his record breaking international feat, Rodgers must present the character he always talk about here.
Verdict: Home win for United

Sunday

Sunderland vs Tottenham
Stadium of light
1:30pm

Both teams labored to a stalemate last weekend and both yet to record a win this season, Tottenham are not odds on to challenge for champions league places with their poor summer deals, Sunderland may find theirselves few feet below come May except they rally, this fixture could swing either ways.
Verdict: Tottenham to pick a point at least
Leicester vs Aston Villa
King Power Stadium
4:00pm

What a revelation Leicester a City have been this term, with these run of results, whenever relegation is being discussed, Claudio Ranieri’s team won’t be mentioned, Aston Villa haven’t done badly either, they’ve picked valuable points and done beyond expectations following their harsh summer of ma$$ exodus, how well can they fare at the den of the foxes?
Verdict: Leicester to edge this

Monday

Westham vs Newcastle
Upton Park
8:00pm

Leicester and Bournemouth have both picked wins at Upton Park this term while the hosts concentrate on upsetting big guns, Newcastle have had discipline problems, they’ve relied too much on defensive stability but crumbled later against Arsenal, Westham have strengthened, they had fun on transfer deadline day and that must reflect as the magpies visit.
Verdict: Westham to win
Strictly the writer’s opinion.
